A lot of work, not much show

A LOT has happened since I last blogged. It's killing me not to have good pictures! I will try and upload tonight!

During the week, I was taking light covers off and got to the CAMO room. I realized that the camo wall was kinda rubbery. So I called JD in. He gave took the chance and gave it a giant RIP!

The camo wall peed off in GIANT chunks! I just could not believe my eyes!! In about 30 minutes the WHOLE camo wall was gone!!! We were so excited that such an eyesore, and a barrier had been broken. We were so worried about how we would cover that wall!! WE ended up having to strip the whole room of wallpaper, which also had been painted.

Friday- JD was off so he and his dad did yard work, among other things. The front yard looks amazing!! They trimmed the trees and got rid of junk on the side near the creek/ditch thing. Our neighbors even commented on how much better it looks!
They started ripping carpet up too! GOODBYE NASTY CARPET, I WILL NOT MISS YOU!! There is no carpet left except for the foyer, but that'll be going soon too!

Saturday- Mrs V and I get ready early for errands. She and I headed to Hobby Lobby for knobs. I have had my mind set on having some funky knobs! And in true Hobby Lobby style, they were half off til the end of the day. God is forcing me to make fast decisions lately! :) Even though these were not an immediate necessity, I made them once since they were half off! So after about an hour I was sold, with 6 knobs, and a raincheck for 26 more! Photo to come.

Off we went to pick out paint colors. Oh my lord in heaven, this was overwhelming. I knew some colors I was sure of but got in there and switched some things up! I left much more knowledgeable and happy to have decided on something! I cannot wait for everyone to see the bedroom color, I'm in love!

SUNDAY: We took advantage of Sherwin William's super sale 40% off all paint and bought it ALL at once! We also found paint tape that was discontinued for....ready. $.01!!!!!!!! ONCE CENT!! We bought all they had!! It was regularly $5.95 a roll!!

Tall friend Timmy came over again to help!! 2 Tall boys can tackle a lot!

The whole upstairs is now primed for painting!

Sunday afternoon- Emmy and Artie came over to tape for painting! Emily is an amazing taper, she has more patience than I do with that. Artie was a good helper too- he even brought us the tape a few times! We had a major issue on Sunday, JDs mom fell off of the counter onto the ground! She merely missed hitting her head on the granite counter tops. She found out today she tore her MCL during the fall. :( She's not going to let it slow her down though. Please send some prayers her way.

My dad and Em came back over on Monday to help out! Dad primed the living room and dining room ceiling and also put the oil based primer on upstairs in our "problem" areas. What a great help it was! I need a break from primer! I need color!!!!!

The garage doors came in! Hallelujah! Not without an issue though, They orignally brought the wrong set and had to go back and get the right one, and now one door has a giant dent in it. It will be corrected though, soon I hope! I am so happy to be a proud owner of a garage door opener, that is ALL mine! :)

The house currently looks like a disaster

but it has been torn up to be put back together. We are so thankful and blessed to have all the help we have had and are having, we could not imagine it without everyone! Jd and I cannot wait to sit on OUR couch and watch OUR tv with OUR dogs after we cooked OUR dinner on OUR stove.... you get the point! :)

BETTER PICTURES ASAP!!

Keys and Treasures and Bridesmaid dresses

I am pretty proud of all that we accomplished this weekend. It was a hectic one for sure! But so happy Steph was here!!

Friday night Steph came in town and she, Evan, Allison and I went to dinner at DoDiYos. We had a yummy dinner with HORRIBLE service. It was embarrassing how bad it was, from a 55 minute wait time (told only 15) with open tables, forgotten appetizer, and raw chicken, I don't think I'll be back for a while. But, we had a lot of fun watching Allison get flustered, its rare. We got to catch up to! We need to do that MUCH more often!!!

Along come Saturday, busiest day ever.
Steph and I woke up at 7 am and go to the Meadowbrook Neighborhood garage sale! We even got my cousin Meredith and Heather to venture down 280! Over 50 houses in the neighborhood participated. I have lived in meadowbrook most of my life and have NEVER seen it this crowded. There was a lot of JUNK, but I think I found a couple of treasures in the mix.

I only spent $19.50 and got- a lamp, 2 shelves, a vintage belt, and a pie table! I'm kind of in love with this "antiquish" (thats what the lady called it when we were haggling) pie table! It has so much potential! I can't wait for the final product! JD was going to venture around the yard sale with us, but the crowds were a little much and there were a lot less treasures than junk, so he decided to cut grass at our new house! :)

We made our last purchases around 10:30 and then headed off to Bridesmaids INC for Steph to try on bridesmaid dresses!! :) With all the house stuff going on, I've slowed a little on the wedding planning! I was so excited to get all girly on Saturday!Steph had found this dress on a random blog one day and showed me, and we both fell in love immediately. It was our goal to get that dress on her! I had called Bridesmaids INC ahead of time to make sure they had it, so we grabbed that one about maybe 10 others for her to try on. She put the winner on first, and nothing else even came close, I think she only tried 2 more on.
We were out of there in 30 mins, sized and purchased! I guess we knew what we wanted! So I'm pumped! Bridesmaid dresses check!

Next Steph headed off to Evans to watch the Auburn game :( and I went to JDs bike race! I'm so excited that cyclecross season is back! Its by far my favorite to watch!! It was a fun race LOTS OF MUD! And it got me excited for the rest of the season! I met back at Dad's to watch the 2nd half of the Auburn game. It was such a weird feeling after 17 games to have, but ya know, I have 17 AWESOME feelings that are better, so I'll remember those :)

Sunday Steph left around noon, and I headed over the new house!! To get the new locks and doorknobs installed! Yay!! That took a lot longer than we thought so it was really our only project for the day! But it was an important one! We also took advantage of Lowe's 75% off patio furniture!! Thanks to Jd's parents we have an awesome table and chairs on the top deck and a "coffee" table for the bottom deck! JD and I found a great deal on some chairs to match!

Monday- Jd's parents started to remove the pea green painted wallpaper in the upstairs bath. Our plan was to remove the painted paper, and then paint a different color. That's going to change...... the paper was not applied correctly. So- as we remove it it's ripping the drywall... A textured bathroom, it will be! Oh well at least it's not a huge room!!

You will notice, sadly, I don't have any pictures :( it's because I lost my phone on Saturday, someone may have stolen it, don't know. But hopefully this will be the only post without pictures, and I have a lot on my real camera too!

We have a lot planned for this week, and especially this weekend. This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we will be having a work party! With beer and food for anyone wanting to tackle something off the list!! If ya wanna join let me know! :) Everyone is welcome! Use FB for now!

Work has already started...

We actually started making some purchases before closing!!

There was an awesome deal at Lowe's for Whirlpool appliances and the people who had lived there before took them all... except the dishwasher, which looks pretty old!

So we went ahead about bought ALL the appliances to get a big rebate! New stainless, fridge, dishwasher, stove, and microwave with hood. I plan on literally KISSING the dishwasher when that comes in! I know we live in a time that we take that thing for granted but gosh, growing up with one and then not having one is a life adjustment :)

JD's Mom and I went to Lowe's AGAIN on Wednesday to buy doorknobs! Who knew that was such a tough decision! We found some great deals, and even met a new friend, the two of us shopping together is going to be very dangerous, and time consuming.

Seriously though, who knew there were so many choices for doorknobs! We ended up picking a brushed nickel. And I've got to say I love it compared to those shiny gold scratched ones we currently have!

Steph's coming this weekend! YAY! We may get a little done but not as much as NEXT weekend! FYI a lot of people have asked, we are planning on moving in October 6th weekend! Most of the work will be done and it will be livable by then. With the wedding date 4/21/12 we will have plenty of time to make this a HOME!

Things to get done before/shortly after move in:

New Garage Doors
New Deck
Scrape popcorn ceilings upstairs
New carpet upstairs
Master Bath Renovation- this will be a little long
Stain concrete in basement
New Roof
Doggie Proof fence

More pictures to come!

Offically Homeowners!

As of yesterday, JD and I officially closed on the Heath Row house! :) We could not be more excited!! As most of you know we got engaged on July 1st, and randomly came across this house. After seeing it, we just knew it was THE one! We had no plans of buying until February or March, but this house was too good to be true.

We made an offer, it was rejected, so we moved along and tried to see if others would suffice. We looked at a lot more houses, online and inside. None of them came close!

So we made another offer, and it was ACCEPTED!! We definitely took it as a sign that it was meant to be. So with all the boring paperwork and nonsense aside, yesterday we closed and got the key!!

JD's parents ordered a party platter from chick-fil-a and I brought some wine in a picnic basket, along with plastic wine glasses- AND A BOTTLE OPENER, over to the house to celebrate last night!!

So, here we are, planning a wedding and buying a house. We want to use this site to remember this experience and share it with everyone else. We are starting our lives together- and we can't wait to make the Vibert house a HOME!
